I quoted Second Timothy chapter 4 verses 2-4 at the top of this article. That is because it’s evident that such a time exists now. Bible Truth For You doesn’t attract many visitors, and few of those who visit keep coming back. This is because we don’t provide light-weight, worldly “wisdom” fluff that shallow Christians and the unsaved want to hear, that gives them a buzz and makes them feel good about their present condition of disobedience against Almighty God. No, instead we serve the substantial food that the soul needs to live and to grow. As a result we are dismissed as not being entertaining enough.

Actually, we do provide a “buzz” because what we have is exciting to the right sort of soul and spirit that craves the satisfaction of God’s Word; but we don’t provide fairy-floss and sugar without substance. If you are not serious about your life and have only “itching ears” for the things that gratify your flesh and greed and selfishness, you won’t gain much comfort here; there are a huge number of vacuous, vain, empty, worthless Christian and religious websites, churches and religions out there to serve your desires that seek to be popular and grow fat with your money.

If, however, you are one of the very few who cares about your life and your eternity then you will find here much that will help you. It’s up to you whether you want to join those few who consider the truth revealed to men from the Creator of the Universe to be of the utmost importance; those few people we can work with to transform lives, and are willing to enter into dialog with.

Many years ago I became aware that many people really have little idea about what the Bible says, or what God thinks of them, yet there are no matters in life that are more important than these. I also want to address the wide perception that Christians are strange, or even stupid, and they appear to be trying to get people to do something they don’t want to do, like going to church or giving up enjoying life and become dull and boring instead, or give church leaders an opportunity to take money from them. Certainly that’s how I felt before I became a Christian myself. All of these things have absolutely nothing to do with being a Christian. Christians are nobody special: just ordinary men and women who have found out something that others don’t know, and have acted upon it, and live lives of freedom and joy that other people do not have.

The advantage of the BTFY blog is that people (who wouldn’t ordinarily go inside a church) can still find out, in a safe way, what the Bible is all about. At the same time it also offers Christians a great collection of biblical resources to access to help them learn more about Jesus Christ. Everyone comes out ahead! We take a wide approach and think that there is something in this blog and on the website for everyone.

Bible Truth For You was launched in December 2009 (and now I function as the Editor of the site, as well as a moderator at Walking Melbourne). I’m well-trained in biblical doctrine and theology. I trained at Word of Life Bible College and interned as an Associate Pastor and preacher at the Parkes Independent Baptist Church. I am a sinner who has experienced the mercy of God for my sins, and have been saved by Christ for about forty years, and I’m committed to the literal, grammatical, historical, contextual interpretation of the Bible; in other words, what the Bible says in plain language without twisting the meaning.

Bible Truth For You came into being because I had a huge supply of great biblical teaching by others (plus a supply of my own) that I wanted to share with others, while also wanting to engage with people to help them develop stronger trust in Jesus Christ. I had a burning desire to pass on what I’ve learned of the truth of God I’ve learned from the Bible. With the help of a few supporters, Bible Truth For You came into being.
