People who submit material for publication on Bible Truth For You Ministries implicitly grant BTFY copyright permission without reservation. All published material is available for anyone to freely access or download.

Much of the material published at Bible Truth For You has been submitted to us by the copyright holders and therefore we have their permission to publish. Bible Truth For You owns the copyright of some material authored or spoken by others. Some files are contributed to us by third parties, and if choose to publish we try to determine who owns the copyright and seek to obtain the authority to publish these books, articles and audio files that are presented on this website and it’s sub-domains. As a result of this most of the contents of BTFY are published with permission of the owners of the copyright.

The exceptions to this are:

1. Files to which we own the copyright;

2. Files of which the copyright ownership is unknown and has proved too difficult to trace;

3. Files of which the author is unknown and we classify as Anonymous;

4.Files that are known to be in the Public Domain and have no copyright restrictions.

The Matter of Ownership of Copyright

The matter of copyright ownership of Christian ministry audio and written files is often murky and complicated; often files come into our possession that have little or no information about the identity of author or the copyright ownership. Additionally, in many instances the speaker (even if reliably identified) is not the owner of the copyright; copyright law is clear that it is the person (or organization) who recorded the audio message that owns the copyright, unless some other arrangement has previously been made. (This is a fact that many preachers are often unaware of, when trying to exert authority over recordings they, in fact, do not own the rights to.) It’s typically the church in which the preaching took place that holds the rights to the recording. If the ownership information is not included with the file it might be impossible for us to trace the ownership.

Unknown Ownership, Unknown Authors, and Our Position About Publishing

In all instances of the material we consider publishing, Bible Truth For You tries to trace the owner of the material, but sometimes this proves to be an impossible task.

However, our task is to present the truth of the Bible and we are not willing to allow good teaching to disappear into history because of such a circumstance. Therefore we publish such material with the notation that the copyright ownership is unknown, or the relevant person has not been contactable, or the author or speaker is unidentified. If the legitimate owner of a copyrighted item finds it published here and does not want Bible Truth For You to continue hosting a file, we can be contacted about it and we will remove it, providing that ownership of the file can be demonstrated to us (this is to prevent the enemies of Christ from masquerading as legitimate owners).

To date the only refusal to our inquiry to host content has come from a certain bible college and ministry in the United States that will not allow us to host their Ron Comfort audio messages; the reason for mentioning this instance at all (instead of us being silent on the matter) is because the Ron Comfort audio messages that are hosted on BTFY are the property of the Calvary Baptist Church in Melbourne, Australia, as well as Revival Sounds, which have granted BTFY permission to publish all of their recordings, and this material is not the property of that bible college and ministry. Other than this instance all of our contributors have been very willing to see the truth of God’s Bible be freely distributed from Bible Truth For You.

We at Bible Truth For You express our thanks to all of these people and organizations for their kindness and generosity of spirit, and commend them to the blessing of God for their faithfulness in ministering his truth and their desire to see that truth spread far and wide.

At Bible Truth For You we believe the truth of the Bible belongs to God, and that those who teach it faithfully are his servants. We don’t begrudge people from earning their living from Bible teaching, especially as the Bible teaches that pastors and ministers of the Gospel should be financially supported. However, we do also believe that God’s truth should be, as much as possible, freely available to all who want to receive it. We recognize that some Bible teachers do not accept this view but desire to restrict access of their material to their own outlets, and they will not allow their material to be made available through Bible Truth For You, as is their prerogative.

“Can I Host Any of These Files on My Own Website?”

The files we host are in two categories: those to which we own the copyright, and those that are copyrighted by others.

Those files belonging to us are marked as ‘Copyright Bible Truth For You’. You may host such files on your website, for we want God’s truth to go out to the people, but (and we insist on this) you must include this statement with each of the files:

“This file has been provided by Bible Truth For You (http:bibletruthforyou.com). Copyright Bible Truth For You. Published with permission.“

We also require that you inform us of any hosting of our files, via the Contact Us tab at the top of this page.

You may not receive any sort of income from the use of our files.

Bible Truth For You retains copyright and control of its files, even if published on another website; republishing of our files means you agree that we have the authority to require you to remove such files from your website as soon as possible, if we send you a notice to do so.

As for those files we do not own but publish with permission, you may download them but we cannot grant you permission to host them or use them simply because the rights are not ours to give; you will have to contact the owners to seek permission to host those files, which can be done through the Contact Us tab on this webpage.

“Can I Make Copies?”

Yes, any written or audio file published on Bible Truth For You may be copied for certain purposes (such as for Bible studies or giving away to others), provided you comply with these conditions:

1. You may not profit from this material in any way;

2. The copies must be made at your own expense and costs may not be recovered in any way;

3. Bible Truth For You logos, banners or symbols or identity may not be used in anyway;

4. All copies must carry this text: “This file has been provided for free distribution by Bible Truth For You (http:bibletruthforyou.com). Copyright Bible Truth For You. Published with permission.”
