Churches in Kansas May Be Mandated To Rent Their Facilities for Same-Sex “Marriage” Ceremonies
Author: ADF Senior Legal Counsel Erik Stanley
We seem to be in an age of increasing government mandates that strike at the very core of the freedom of religion. The HHS Mandate in just one example of government mandates that disregard freedom of religion. The latest example comes from Hutchinson, Kansas, a small town northwest of Wichita. If the Hutchinson Human Relations Commission has its way, churches will be mandated to rent out their facilities for same-sex “marriage” ceremonies.

FedEx Employee Vindicated in Religious Discrimination Suit
By Jennifer LeClaire
Eric Weathers was just trying to answer a few of his coworker’s questions about the Bible. But the Chicago FedEx employee’s boss told him that discussions about religion and politics were “forbidden in the workplace.”
When the boss refused to tell Weathers why, the Christian employee asked a human resources representative for an explanation. The response: His speech was an “act detrimental to the company”—a designation given to sexual harassment, possession of illegal drugs or weapons in the workplace, theft, workplace violence and other egregious acts.

Inventor of the MRI Says Evolution is Science Fiction
Call to boycott Starbucks for its stance on marriage
(Starbuck’s administration could just get on with selling coffee and not involve the company in a religious/political dispute, or they could pursue their anti-bible agenda as private people. However, they have chosen to proclaim their agenda as the stance of the Starbuck’s company itself, therefore making it clear that to purchase Starbuck products is to support Starbuck’s anti-bible agenda.)
The Starbucks coffee giant says redefining marriage is one of its “core” values, and an international boycott has been launched against the company.
The boycott has been organised by American-based campaign group the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), which has set up the dumpstarbucks.com website.
Director of NOM’s Corporate Fairness Project, Jonathan Baker, said Starbucks’ support for same-sex marriage goes beyond a mere statement from an executive.

Obama’s Homosexual America
By Jeffrey T. Kuhner – The Washington Times
President Obama has made it official: He now supports same-sex marriage. It is his latest onslaught on traditional America. Mr. Obama has made history. He is our first commander in chief to openly embrace legalizing homosexual and lesbian unions. He has crossed a cultural watershed, paving the way for the eventual triumph of the homosexual agenda. Rather than being a victory for “civil rights” or “marital equality,” Mr. Obama’s decision puts America on the path to moral disintegration. We are one step closer to becoming like secular, post-Christian Europe.
For years, Mr. Obama claimed his position was “evolving.” Facing re-election and under growing pressure from liberal interest groups, especially the powerful homosexual lobby, he finally capitulated. His decision was not based on principle, but cynical politics. Mr. Obama needs the gay and lesbian vote to win in November. Immediately upon his announcement Wednesday, Hollywood donors opened their checkbooks. Millions were pumped into the Obama campaign coffers; the liberal base has been energized, and the cultural left is hailing Mr. Obama as the Martin Luther King of our time. The president believes it is an electoral masterstroke.
Instead, he has made a big mistake. Same-sex marriage is opposed by most Americans. On Tuesday, North Carolina became the 31st state to vote for a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman. The referendum was not even close: More than 60 percent of voters supported Amendment One. The liberal media, such as the New York Times, consistently portray anti-gay-marriage advocates as bigots.
This is nonsense. Most Americans are neither intolerant nor bigoted. Rather, they understand that marriage is the basic institution of society. For thousands of years in the West, it has had a privileged role. Marriage solidifies the bonds between a man and a woman, laying the foundation for raising children in stable families. It is the glue that binds a functioning, viable social order. Marriage is the natural unit that enables society to perpetuate itself from one generation to the next. This is not hate; it’s common sense.
It is why, for example, the drive to ban same-sex marriage in North Carolina was led by black pastors and churches. It also is why the black and Hispanic vote was pivotal to passing California’s Proposition 8, which also upholds traditional marriage. Blacks and Hispanics – although key Democratic voting blocs – tend to be deeply Christian and socially conservative. Mr. Obama has put himself on a collision course with large segments of his base. He has kissed away major swing states, such as North Carolina and Virginia. He also is further alienating Middle America, which still believes in pro-family values. In short, Mr. Obama is committing political suicide.
Yet the same-sex-marriage issue is more important than simple politics. It is about the future of America’s civilization. Within hours of Amendment One’s victory, the pro-homosexual-marriage forces announced they would sue to block North Carolina’s constitutional ban. In other words, they repeated the Proposition 8 model: Circumvent defeat at the ballot box by asking leftist judges to trump the democratic will of the people. This is judicial tyranny masquerading as civil rights – a naked attempt by a minority to impose its neo-pagan immorality upon the majority. The homosexual agenda is a manifestation of the totalitarian impulse at the heart of liberalism: the desire by a ruling cartel to impose a social revolution from above.
Every major religious faith – Christianity, Islam, Orthodox Judaism – teaches that homosexuality is an abomination. Homosexual behavior, especially sodomy, is unnatural and immoral. It is absurd, bordering on social madness, to elevate gay and lesbian relationships to the sanctified status of marriage – a form of moral anarchy characterized by radical individualism, hedonism and sexual liberation. Same-sex marriage is a symptom of cultural decay.
Our Judeo-Christian ancestors understood something that postmodern liberals do not: The primary purpose of sexual activity is to procreate – to have children – within the boundaries of marriage. Romantic love, personal fulfillment, burning passion – all of these things are nice, but secondary to the real purpose and mission of marriage. Secular liberals are engaged in social engineering. They are fostering the myth that women and men are the same and interchangeable. According to Mr. Obama, a child needs two committed and loving parents – regardless of their gender. This is fantasy. A child needs a committed mother and father. Women and men are profoundly different; they have distinct natures, with unique biological, emotional and psychological characteristics. It is the fusion of these two divergent genders that provides the balance and harmony necessary for the healthy development of children. Hence, same-sex “marriage” is an oxymoron. It is akin to redefining gravity: an act of hubris destined to fail.
For decades, liberals – aided and abetted by the popular culture – have been bringing homosexuality into the mainstream. It is slowly being promoted in public schools and constantly being glamorized in television shows and movies. The more the homosexual agenda is spread, the more militant its advocates become. They no longer want toleration. They seek full social acceptance. Once marriage falls, only one institution will be left standing in their way: traditional Christianity. The ultimate aim of the radical left has been to destroy religion – especially Western Christendom. Once a religion dies, so does the culture and civilization it spawned. America is at a crossroads, enmeshed in a cultural war with homosexual advocates like Mr. Obama who are determined to strike at the very nexus of our civilization.

US Nuclear Bomb Lost Off Georgia’s Coast In 1958 Is Still Missing
The United States had a troubling year in 1958 when it came to transporting nuclear weapons. There was the incident where a nuclear bomb was dropped on a little girl’s playhouse. There was the plane carrying a nuclear warhead that caught fire and burned for seven hours, in Morocco.
And then there’s one incident that still haunts the coast of the Southeastern United States five decades later — the loss of a four ton thermonuclear bomb off the shore of Savannah, Georgia.
Playing war games with a nuclear bomb
A mid-air collision between a United States F-86 fighter and a B-47 bomber carrying a Mark 15 Mod 0 nuclear bomb during a simulated combat scenario left the fighter destroyed and the bomber with a damaged fuel tank and engine. And yes, flying a simulation with a detonation-ready nuclear bomb is bizarre, but it provides the most accurate preparation for a combat scenario.
After attempting to land the broken bomber (one to three times, depending on the source), the pilot of the B-47 obtained permission to jettison the nuclear bomb off the coast of Georgia.

Calif. against pro-heterosexual counseling?
Senate Bill 1172, which would remove the ability of psychologists, therapists, and counselors to aid clients with sexual orientation change efforts (SOCE), has passed its first committee hearing. Brad Dacus of the Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) says SB 1172 requires a new consent form for adults, which contains statements about sexual orientation that many counselors would dispute — and professionals who continue SOCE would be penalized under the measure.

Sweet news follows boycott of PepsiCo
The boycott of PepsiCo launched by a pro-life ministry is over. That ministry reports the food and soft drink giant has agreed to stop using a cell line from aborted babies to test flavor enhancers.
Children of God for Life (CGL) launched the boycott last year after discovering PepsiCo had a large contract with Senomyx to use human embryonic kidney cells to test the flavor enhancers. As recently as March, PepsiCo had denied its involvement in the practice and, according to Children of God for Life, its business relationship with Senomyx.
But a recent letter to CGL from PepsiCo’s VP of global public policy, Paul Boykas, stated Senomyx “will not use [human embryonic kidney] cells or any other tissues or cell lines derived from human embryos or fetuses for research performed on behalf of PepsiCo.”

India Briefs: Recent Incidents of Persecution
Tamil Nadu, India, April 30 (CDN) — About 100 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers led by A. Raja and another identified only as Chidambaram on April 21 beat 15 Christians for proclaiming Christ in Paganeri, Shivagangai. The Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC) reported that the Hindu extremists beat them, burned their Bibles and tracts, seized their vehicle key and destroyed their megaphone. The Christian group, led by an evangelist identified only as Jessudoss from Kandanur, had gone to the area in a van fitted with a megaphone; they filed a complaint at the Paganeri police station against the attackers, but officers took no action, according to the GCIC. The Christians then went to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, who immediately sent officers to the site; they helped arrange an agreement between the assailants and the victims with the help of the village head, and the Hindu extremists returned the vehicle key to the pastor. Later that same evening, however, the BJP members returned and beat Jessudoss, the GCIC reported. They told Christians they would not hesitate to attack them again.

New Research: Universalism, Pluralism, Pastors, & the People
Ed Stetzer
We released some new research yesterday at LifeWay Research showing 84% of Protestant pastors disagree that eternal life can be obtained through religions other than Christianity. That view is generally called “universalism” or “pluralism” (though technically not the same thing, they are often used interchangeably and relate to one another). So, based on this data, Protestant pastors are overwhelmingly not pluralist/universalist.
However, the same cannot be said of their church members. When presented with the same statement, just 48 percent of adults who attend a Protestant church once a month or more disagree strongly and 9 percent disagree somewhat. A total of 26 percent agree. In other words, protestant church attendees are substantially more pluralist/universalist than their pastors.

Employers Ask Job Seekers for Facebook Passwords

We believe that a fundamental human right is to have a reasonable degree of personal privacy and not to be investigated by governments or employers who are on a “fishing expedition” to see if they can find out anything about you that can be used against you. Since Christians are increasingly coming under legal persecution in western nations we are under greater threat by what is described here, and this form of personal intrusion should be of concern to all people and particularly Christians.)

Bassett, a New York City statistician, had just finished answering a few character questions when the interviewer turned to her computer to search for his Facebook page. But she couldn't see his private profile. She turned back and asked him to hand over his login information.
Bassett refused and withdrew his application, saying he didn't want to work for a company that would seek such personal information. But as the job market steadily improves, other job candidates are confronting the same question from prospective employers, and some of them cannot afford to say No.

‘Tasteless’: backlash over Kony campaigner’s meltdown
Amy McNeilage, with Jonathan Swan
Sydney Morning Herald
The public meltdown of one of the co-founders of lobby group Invisible Children has seen discussion shift from #Kony2012 to #Bony2012.
Jason Russell was briefly detained last week after he was seen pacing a Californian street naked, screaming, clapping and bashing his fists on the pavement.
He has since been transferred to a medical facility where he is receiving further evaluation and treatment.

The Twitter hashtag #Kony2012, which has been trending worldwide since the campaign video of the same name emerged this month, has recently been overshadowed by a new hashtag – #Bony2012 – mocking the Russell episode.
The activist’s wife, Danica Russell, has denied claims her husband’s bizarre behaviour was fuelled by drugs or alcohol.
“But yes, he did some irrational things brought on by extreme exhaustion and dehydration,” she said in a statement.
“There will always be a lowest common denominator out there to vandalise and to ridicule, to record and to Tweet for cruelty’s sake. I only hope that most of us can cultivate a sensitivity to the fact that any of us could drop to the floor and convulse with a seizure, or appear stark raving mad in the street after a stroke, or suffer an episode of psychosis as the sentinel sign of a tumour.”

Muslim chief demands destruction of churches
by Bob Unruh
A Muslim leader in Saudi Arabia is calling for the destruction of all Christian churches in Kuwait because he believes that is what Islam demands, according to a report.
In an article published by the Middle East Forum, Raymond Ibrahim, a Shillman Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center and an associate fellow at the Middle East Forum, cites several Arabic language web publications that quoted Sheik Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah, the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia, declaring it is “necessary to destroy all the churches of the region.”
"Imagine what would happen if a Christian counterpart to the grand mufti, say the pope, were to declare that all mosques in Italy must be destroyed; imagine the nonstop Western media frenzy that would erupt, all the shrill screams of ‘intolerance’ and ‘bigot,’ demands for apologies if not resignation, nonstop handwringing by sensitive politicians, and worse.”
Q&A: Kirk Cameron on ‘Monumental,’ Piers Morgan & why he hasn’t lost hope in America
by Michael Foust
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP) — When Kirk Cameron went on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” to discuss his upcoming patriotic-themed documentary “Monumental,” he didn’t expect to get pulled into a national debate over homosexuality.
But in hindsight, it may have been a good thing, particularly for getting the word out about the movie, which is in theaters nationally for only one night — March 27 — and then in select markets March 30.
“It seemed that perhaps the Lord was in this,” Cameron told Baptist Press.
In Monumental, Cameron follows the footsteps of America’s founders — first the Pilgrims (he travels to England) and then America’s forefathers, interviewing experts and historians along the way. His goal is to find the source that inspired the founders and to explore whether America can be turned around economically, morally and spiritually. He thinks it can. Publicists have promoted the movie with the catchy phrase: “Sometimes the only way forward is to go back.”

Warfare in Syria upends a once-complacent people
by Ava Thomas
DAMASCUS, Syria (BP) — Syrians were complacent for a long time — at least that’s how one person familiar with the war-torn Mideast country described its people.
They were “a people who felt they were more blessed than others,” as Dan David* put it, “because natural disasters and wars had not been a part of their modern history.”
But war has broken out in the past year, bloodshed has escalated and people have run for the country’s borders with their children in tow. The peace they enjoyed has been shattered.
So there’s a big question mark over the extent to which Good News is being shared inside Syria amid the tumult.

America’s Most Biblically-Hostile U. S. President
David Barton
When one observes President Obama’s unwillingness to accommodate America’s four-century long religious conscience protection through his attempts to require Catholics to go against their own doctrines and beliefs, one is tempted to say that he is anti-Catholic. But that characterization would not be correct. Although he has recently singled out Catholics, he has equally targeted traditional Protestant beliefs over the past four years. So since he has attacked Catholics and Protestants, one is tempted to say that he is anti-Christian. But that, too, would be inaccurate. He has been equally disrespectful in his appalling treatment of religious Jews in general and Israel in particular. So perhaps the most accurate description of his antipathy toward Catholics, Protestants, religious Jews, and the Jewish nation would be to characterize him as anti-Biblical. And then when his hostility toward Biblical people of faith is contrasted with his preferential treatment of Muslims and Muslim nations, it further strengthens the accuracy of the anti-Biblical descriptor. In fact, there have been numerous clearly documented times when his pro-Islam positions have been the cause of his anti-Biblical actions.
Listed below in chronological order are (1) numerous records of his attacks on Biblical persons or organizations; (2) examples of the hostility toward Biblical faith that have become evident in the past three years in the Obama-led military; (3) a listing of his open attacks on Biblical values; and finally (4) a listing of numerous incidents of his preferential deference for Islam’s activities and positions, including letting his Islamic advisors guide and influence his hostility toward people of Biblical faith.

U.S. State Department Actively Promoting Islam in Europe
The French government – which has been trying to reverse the pernicious effects of decades of state-sponsored multiculturalism – expressed dismay at what it called “meddling.”
The United States ambassador to Spain recently met with a group of Muslim immigrants in one of the most Islamized neighborhoods of Barcelona to apologize for American foreign policymaking in the Middle East.

Obama agency rules Pepsi use of cells derived from aborted fetus ‘ordinary business’
by John-Henry Westen
LARGO, FL, March 5, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Pepsi Company, which is set to release the new product Pepsi Next in the coming weeks, is facing a more robust boycott as pro-life activists protest the company use of cells derived from an aborted fetus in flavor-enhancing research. But Pepsi has succeeded, with help from the Obama Administration, in keeping its controversial operations from consideration by its shareholders.
In a decision delivered Feb 28th, President Obama’s Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) ruled that PepsiCo’s use of cells derived from aborted fetal remains in their research and development agreement with Senomyx to produce flavor enhancers falls under “ordinary business operations.”

Cranston West prayer banner removed
- By Nancy Krause
CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) – For the first time in decades, a prayer banner does not adorn the walls at Cranston High School West.
After a long, intense legal battle, the mural was removed over the weekend, the American Civil Liberties Union confirmed Monday afternoon.
“The ACLU has been apprised that, in accordance with Judge Lagueux’s decision, the prayer mural has been permanently removed from Cranston High School West, and on that basis we have agreed to give the defendants a further extension of time, until March 19th, on the issue of attorneys’ fees,” said Rhode Island ACLU Executive Director Steven Brown.
The ACLU filed the lawsuit on behalf of atheist student Jessica Ahlquist, who said the prayer banner violated her Constitutional rights.

By Cindy Swirko
At first, the victims of a home-invasion robbery — 16 college students gathered for a Wednesday evening of Bible study — thought it was a prank when two men with bandannas over their faces burst in with guns.
But they soon realized the home-invasion robbery at the apartment of two brothers, a University of Florida medical student and a UF fine arts student, was real.

Obama: Sin is what doesn’t match ‘my values’
by Michael Foust
WASHINGTON, US (BP) — A newly released interview from 2004 sheds light on President Obama’s faith, showing that on several major doctrinal issues — including sin, heaven and the Gospel’s exclusivity — he steps outside historic Christianity.
The one-hour interview by Cathleen Falsani was conducted when Obama was running for U.S. Senate, several months before he was introduced to the country during his 2004 Democratic National Convention speech. At the time, Falsani was a religion reporter for the Chicago-Sun Times. Although the interview formed part of a book (“The God Factor: Inside the Spiritual Lives of Public People”), much of Obama’s answers were not included in it. She calls the interview the “longest and most in-depth he’s granted publicly about his faith,” and she made the transcript available at the Sojourners website in February.

BBC director: jokes and satire about Christianity is treated with less sensitivity
By: Clara Morris
According to the Daily Mail, in his interview with Timothy Garton Ash for Oxford’s “The Free Speech Debate,” Thompson said that television programs do not have to be as sensitive with satire, jokes, or comments about Christianity because the religion is “an established part of our cultural-built landscape” and “pretty broad shouldered.”
Thompson went on to differentiate that other religions closely “identify with ethnic minorities,” and thus warrant special regard when being dealt with on broadcast television. “The point is that for a Muslim, a depiction, particularly a comic or demeaning depiction, of the Prophet Mohammed might have the emotional force of a piece of grotesque child pornography,” he said.

TX court: Churches can’t petition government
By Charlie Butts
TEXAS, US (Onenewsnow) – Citizens fought back with the referendum process when Mayor John Cook and city council Reps. Susie Byrd and Steve Ortega approved domestic partner benefits, including for homosexuals. Going against voter wishes, the city council again voted for them, which prompted the recall election effort and the involvement of Pastor Tom Brown, president of Word of Life Church, and other Christians.
The efforts were successful, but the Texas Eighth Court of Appeals ruled Friday that the petitions be decertified and that “no election thereon may be called or held.”

Judge: Insulting Islam grounds for beating
Judge Mark Martin is an Iraq war veteran and a convert to Islam, according to George Washington University law professor Jonathon Turley. The incident, recorded on video, occurred on October 11, 2011 at the Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania Halloween parade. Ernie Perce, an atheist, was attacked by Talaag Elbayomy, a Muslim, because of the former’s costume.
Judge Martin threw out video evidence of the assault, dismissed the testimony of an eyewitness officer, and then lectured the atheist victim about the sensitivities of the Muslim culture. He stated in court that Elbayomy was obligated to attack the victim because of his culture and religion.

IRAN (Foxnews) – The Christian pastor sentenced to death in Iran last week for leaving Islam and converting to Christianity was confirmed alive as of early Sunday, sources close to his attorneys told Fox News.

Homeschooling families can’t teach homosexual acts sinful in class says Alberta gvmt

Christian newspaper to counter atheists
Dennis Prince takes on the Global Athiest Convention. Photo: Joe Armao
By Barney Zwartz
MELBOURNE, Australia (The Age) - THE front-page headline screams in capital letters something most newspapers tuck away discreetly, if they admit it at all: "I WAS WRONG!" But it is not the Regal Standard admitting error, but "the world's most notorious atheist", philosopher Antony Flew.
One of the 20th century's most influential atheists, Flew changed his mind about the existence of God, largely because of the complexity of DNA. So he is ideal front-page material for a Christian single-handedly taking on the Global Atheist Convention, to be held in Melbourne in April.

Woman Sues Over Town Hall Prayer
Written by Lisa Rathke, The Associated Press
MONTPELIER, US (BFP) — In the small, northern Vermont town of Franklin, the annual town meeting starts with the banging of the gavel, the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer, delivered by a local pastor. One woman has objected to the last custom for the past eight years.
Today, Marilyn Hackett will ask a judge in the Vermont Superior Court in St. Albans to block the prayer from the meeting March 6, saying it violates the Vermont Constitution’s protection against forced participation in religious worship. She also says she’s being denied equal access to a public location because of her beliefs.
